Provider availability can be difficult to measure, but some commonly used proxies are licensure data, survey data, and geolocation data. The Georgia All-Payer Claims Database offers a complementary perspective on the provider workforce, giving insight into provider activity by specialty and location. This report aims to characterize outpatient provider availability and introduce new utilization metrics that capture the amount of care being delivered, where care was delivered, and if the care delivered met geographic demand.
