Perinatal Care Utilization and Health Equity: Success and Ongoing Challenges From Colorado

This study examined perinatal care utilization in Colorado and found that Black birthing people attended more prenatal and pregnancy-related visits than White birthing people, particularly during the first and second trimesters. However, Black birthing people had lower postpartum care utilization overall, with the largest disparities occurring in rural areas. The findings highlight the need to improve continuity of postpartum care and address inequities across the maternal care continuum.
